Guided Imagery

Guided imagery refers to an effective tension -reducing technique in which the participants are asked to day dream in a relaxing scenario. The participants are usually asked to close their eyes and listen to a narration or description. This narration will usually provide a greater detail of a relaxing scenario. It will take the listeners to a mental vacation which provides a break from their routine events. It reduces the tension and reverses the body's stress response.

Steps involved in guided imagery include bringing the mind to a completely relaxed state. After that, visualizing a positive scene which the participant wishes to happen in his or her life. Sometimes the participants are also asked to take positive affirmations in this stage. These steps are practiced several times.

As a result, the sub-conscious mind is trained to accept these positive changes. In other words, this is a way of supplying positive ideas to the subconscious mind to produce the intended result.
